For your consideration, an Antique shaped & handled Oyster plate by J.W. Boteler, always in demand for the oyster collector. Boteler, of Washington D.C. was the first to patent his handled plate in the U.S., this one marked Patented June 16, 1874. A dimensional plate with a Gray ground on a White Porcelain body. Four Oyster wells, two have purple/grey “Eyes” , the other two showing the beautifully rendered Oyster Meat, making this a rarer piece. There is a Turquoise colored center. The Handle is beautifully gilded.

Measuring 9″ X 8 1/2″, excellent but for some minor rub to the gilding on the handle.
