A charming 7 piece Antique Majolica Dessert Set, made by Josef Steidle, Znaim, Bohemia, Austria, c. early 1900’s. A pedestal cake server & six plates in the Art Nouveau style. The pattern shows a border of intertwined green leaves & pink petaled flowers with yellow eyes. The border is set against a raised geometric pattern on a white ground.
Marked Steidle Znaim, with the impressed winged sun & mold numbers, on all 7 pieces.
The cake server is 8 1/2″ across X 5″ high. The plates are 6 3/4″ across. The plates are pierced for hanging.
The server has a chip seen to the underside, not to the top & very minimally from the rim. The gray body of the clay is exposed here as shown. The plates are excellent but for some very minor roughing to the rims.
