Childhood Antiques
Inexpensive children's china was made throughout the 19th century as gifts for good children, birth gifts and souvenirs. The patterns were intended to delight and to instruct. Tea sets were used as a tool for teaching table manners to the future hostess as well as for play. Dishes were also made in "doll" size for young girls to serve tea while playing house.
